What are the different parenting styles?

Parenting styles are made up of every choice and influence in ones life, and therefore, are as numerous as there are parents in the world. Each is unique and thus influences children in different ways.

However, despite their overall uniqueness, most styles can be classified in larger groups due to some discernible characteristic similarities. Three of the most common groups can be labeled as lenient parenting, command parenting, and what some may call traditional parenting.

• For a parent to be seen as lenient, they usually utilize hands-off techniques, giving children lots of personal freedom.
  
  
• A command parent is usually very strict providing children with very little personal freedom.
  
  
• Traditional parents are more value driven and utilize guides such as the Bible to teach their children basic life and societal principles.
